WHO AM I?

Dancer, Dance Educator,
Choreographer, & Competition Judge

I didn't always know that I wanted to become a professional dance instructor. In fact, I went to school thinking I was going to be an accountant.  When dance came into my life and I began teaching, I couldn't imagine anything else in life that I would rather be doing.  I’ve been teaching students of all ages and abilities since 2000.  At the same time, I myself, have never stopped dancing, learning, and growing.

I believe that dance is something that is constantly evolving, and as a teacher I need to evolve too.  My constant drive for learning only helps to benefit those that I teach.  Earning certifications in Ballet, Pilates, and Acrobatics, as well as training on a weekly basis, keeps me well-informed and up-to-date.

My constant growth does not end there.  I am currently working toward my Masters Degree in Dance Education from the University of Northern Colorado.

DANCER...

A performer at heart

Whenever the opportunity arises, I dance.  Who wouldn't?!  From professional gigs to volunteering for the community, sharing the joy of dance with others is what I love to do.

Looking for a performer?  I have trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, contemporary, and ballroom.

DANCE EDUCATOR...

Training Students Since 2000

Teaching dance is a passion of mine and a good teacher can be hard to find.  I am thankful that I had some amazing teachers share their wisdom with me.  It is my turn to pass my wisdom on to others.

Teaching dance is more than just steps.  It is emotion, grace, poise, storytelling, acting, and more.  Lessons learned in the dance class will carry through life.  Confidence, self-esteem, presentation skills, positive self-image, and teamwork, are only a few of the things that are taught in my classes (besides dance steps).

CHOREOGRAPHER...

Creating Movement for Others

Telling a story through movement and seeing it come to life on stage is another fabulous part of my job.  Whether it's for an annual recital, dance competitions, The Nutcracker, local church performances, community theater groups, or CCSU's annual spring show, I enjoy creating for anyone in need.

COMPETITION JUDGE...

Giving Helpful Feedback

As dance competitions travel through the country they are in need of experienced teachers to give constructive criticism to students and their teachers.  Hiring a well-rounded teacher who works with students of all levels is important because we can empathize with the teachers sending their students up on the stage.

Working for Jason Warley and his company, Man In Motion, based out of NYC, I had had the pleasure of working for two competition companies in New England.

This first hand experience is invaluable when it comes to coaching students for competition.  To know "what judges are looking for" is important; almost all of the time, it's good technique!
